ROCKLIN CITY HALL
There are several key offices and roles in Rocklin City Hall, including elected and non-elected positions, located at 3970 Rocklin Road.
It is located in historic City Hall that the Code Compliance Department is located.
In 1912, Adolf Pernu, owner of Rocklins' California Granite Company, built the City Hall as an employee company store. Above the front entrance is a granite frontispiece inscribed with the date 1912.
Upon Pernu's death in Sequoia National Park in 1931, and as Rocklins quarry businesses faltered during the Great Depression, Pernus' creditors acquired his quarry.
A successor owner sold the building to Rocklin City in 1941, which has been used for the City Hall ever since. There are some Rocklins old-timers who remember the library occupying the first floor in the early 1940s and City Council meetings on the second.
A Hawaiian businessman named Chung Moon arrived in California in 1912 and operated a market there until the 1930s. The second floor of the house was occupied by his family until they purchased the home of Dr. Henry Fletcher across the street. The Rocklin History Museum now occupies the Fletcher home.
